I so badly wanted to title this post “These O’s ain’t Royal” but, I decided to hold off since we didn’t sweep the series. However, the Royals took the series, 2-1.
-Eric Hosmer’s hitting streak continues: Not only has he hit in 14 straight games, his on-base streak is up to 26.
-Speaking of streaks, sorry Manny, yours is over. Manny Machado’s 16-game hitting stretch ends at the hands of the Royals. Hosmer now owns the top spot in both the AL & NL.
-The alleged Salvador Perez/Wade Davis spat happened after Friday’s win…or it didn’t. Either way, their relationship appears to be fine. How can you not love both of these guys?
– Chris Young finally gets a win! If you follow me on Twitter, you saw my bold prediction for the game: I said Chris Young would pitch a shutout. Obviously, that didn’t happen. But, he pitched one heck of a game Friday night! In 6 innings, he pitched 10 K’s, allowing 2 runs off of 4 hits and 1 walk.
-When it comes to Kris Medlen, I’m not really sure where to begin. I haven’t liked the idea of him being in the starting rotation since the season started; Saturday reaffirmed that for me. It’s early in the season, but his command is tough to watch. Even though I don’t really like him as a starter, he’s there, so I hope things get better.
-Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not feeling great about Kendrys Morales’ body language right now. I’m all for seeing someone swing aggressively, but he has almost as many strikeouts as hits right now. In 66 at bats, he has 16 hits and 15 strikeouts. For a regular starter, Morales has the 2nd lowest batting average. He’s the DH!!!
-Yordono Ventura stays perfect! He pitched a beauty on Sunday, allowing 1 run on 3 hits through 7 innings. He struck out 4 and only walked 2. This is going to be a great season for Ventura. So far, his command is strong, he’s not getting frustrated when we makes a bad pitch, and his body language is confident.
GIF of the weekend:

This is my favorite GIF of the weekend by a long shot. Even after a Salvy splash, Butera’s hair was perfect. How great is it that the Royals have a back-up catcher that’s better than some team’s starting pitchers?
My weekley Cy Young pick: Jake Arrieta
This Week: If you don’t work overnight like me, you might need to take a nap after work this week. Tonight is the start of a 3-game series with the L.A. Angels. First pitch is set for 9:05 each night. Then, the Royals will travel to Seattle to play the Mariners Friday through Sunday. Friday and Saturday will be 9:10 starts. Sunday will be a 3:10 start. The Angeles are 8-11, the Mariners are 9-9, and the Royals are 12-6.
Tonight, it will be Ian Kennedy (2-1, 1.35 ERA) on the mound facing Garrett Richards (0-3, 3.00 ERA)
