This is the last Tuesday that I will be writing about the Kansas State Wildcats in the regular season. Where did time go? How did I get to December without counting every day that football was on as a happy and glorious day? I’ll tell you how, it’s that damn World Series that my hometown won. There is a reason World Series trophies only come around once every thirty years and that reason is my liver.
Back to football, I am still shocked that we are almost done. Not even almost, this is the last week I will see my Kansas State Wildcats take the field and I didn’t even go to a game this year. Not that I had time, but I really would have liked to go and watch this awful team squeak out a Big 12 win. That also would have required sitting through one of the worst games I’ve witnessed (and I witnessed the four overtime win against A&M in 2011) against Iowa State or freezing temperatures to watch cruel & unusual punishment against Kansas. Either option sounds awful, but I at least admit I’m a selfish fan and chose to work and stay in Kansas City.
Kansas State is bowl eligible by the “we don’t have enough good teams so let’s lower the standards and get more bowls filled.” DID WE MENTION MOST BOWL TROPHIES ARE NOT ACTUALLY BOWLS?! W. T. F?! More to come on that later… So Kansas State had a terrible conference showing, but has the chance to beat West Virginia and go 6-6, which considering I said at the beginning of the season that I’d be thrilled with 7-5… I’m totally fine with this.
Most of the time my teams disappoint me so my apologies to those of you that know how to win. I’d rather be classically conditioned to flinching and expecting something catastrophic to happen so I don’t go full meltdown mode. The closest I ever got to being excited for a team to the point where I was confident we would win? Auburn @ KSU, 2014.
Yeah, sums it all up.
My attempt at being positive at most times about most things is a thinly veiled effort to create good SPROTS karma and get the edge for my teams. This doesn’t work, so feel free to ignore me when I’m sitting there smiling and pretending everything is going to be just fine when it is obvious a team is collapsing in front of my very eyes. Kansas State changed up the regular BS this week with some excellent play calling and some trickery, probably because it was the Sunflower Showdown and Kansas is a terrible team. Dimel’s son had a great game and our defense held a pretty solid KU offense to 14 points. KU, work on special teams, punting should not be that hard.
With the bowl season approaching… PLEASE LET US PLAY NEBRASKA IN SOMETHING AND REIGNITE A RIVALRY THAT WE CAN ALL GET BEHIND. I DON’T THINK I CAN SIT THROUGH THE CASH 4 GOLD & DRAIN-O BOWL THAT KANSAS STATE ENDS UP GOING TO IF THE OPPONENT IS NOT SOMEONE I CAN HATE. OKAY THANKS I’LL STOP WITH THE CAPS NOW. BYE.
