Here Comes Mullet: Gundy Forever

MFCEO’s Note: While we are excited that Oklahoma State football ended on a positive note, we are sad to see Sumer’s weekly column as Gundy’s mullet come to a close. Be sure to follow her on Twitter to see what she’s up to next!

Somewhere in the USA

Well, Diary, WE ARE THE 2016 ALAMO BOWL CHAMPIONS!!!! Also, James and Darling Angel Mason announced that they’re staying for their senior seasons. I knew they were staying, but they had to tell people themselves. We kinda blew out Colorado. We were just better. Honestly, this might’ve been Mason’s best game in my opinion. I heard that last year we didn’t do so well in the Sugar Bowl. We had two broken quarterbacks, and that doesn’t exactly put together a solid recipe for football stuff. We had awesome play calling this time around. The double pass from Mason to Chris then back to Mason was a thing of beauty. I could watch Lampkin’s pick over and over. The receiving corps really came to play, especially after James dislocated his finger. Oh yeah, James dislocated his finger. It was gross. I have a picture somewhere. Our defense was solid as always, we managed to force turnovers on downs a couple of times. Ben missed a field goal but we won’t talk about it anymore. Sterns and Mason tried to get me with Gatorade but Mike alluded them thankfully.

I know you’re wondering about my fate. As am I. I am very blessed and honored to have been involved in this amazing program. Being attached to a Mike has taught me a lot. I know I won’t be around much longer. One good grade on a math test and I’m on the floor. Mike’s sons are literally toying with my life. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m not meant to be here for an extended period of time. But this season has been an amazing experience. From a gut wrenching and unusual untimed down to Mason actually running the ball, like me, we’ve had some ups and downs. We should’ve beaten Baylor and we’re coming for OU. Diary, I love this team with every falling inch of me. I’ll never forget the reception I got at Big 12 Media Day. I never knew that showing up on a dude’s head would eventually warrant national attention. The team eventually accepted me, whether the Gundy kids did or not. I’m proud of everything this program has done and I’m honored to be the spark.

This is my last entry, Diary. I still can’t for the life of me figure out how hair can keep a diary. Thank you to everyone that cared enough to check on my status each week. Congratulations to our graduates and many blessings to those who have declared for the NFL Draft. Thank you to those who have made the decision to stay another year. I know nothing is more important to Mike than sending great young men into the world. I love you from the bottom of my follicles. Whether I get to stay or I’m cut from this team, ever you will find me Loyal and True. Pistols Firing. Goodnight, Vienna.

This is where the Mullet rides away.
